The IFCC General Conference 2022 and the celebration for the 70 years of IFCC Global Leadership of Laboratory Medicine took place in Brussels with a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of joy, a lot of memories and a lot of good perspectives for the future. Almost all the IFCC people, the people who make it possible that this organization plays such an important role in the laboratories all over the world, were there. And a lot more people participated through the IFCC new software. We have watched the EB people, the officers, expressing their thoughts. We discussed with them important matters formally or informally. The “top” and most moving and at the same time most entertaining moment of the celebration were the presentations by the Past Presidents. We have travelled with them from the beginning till today. The journey was full of wonderful moments, of difficult decisions, of hard work, of hope, of determination. All this history was presented with a lot of humour and good fun. In this issue of the eNews you can read many presentations about this unforgettable event. In the President’s message, Prof. Khosrow Adeli offers a detailed report of every particular day of the conference. And then many attendees give their own description of the event. Let’s hope that IFCC will always have the chance of organizing such successful events! Dear colleagues, enjoy reading this issue, enjoy the event!".

2022 06 07 IFCC eNews No 6 June 2022

06/08/2022

Dr. Katherina Psarra, eNews Editor, says: "The summer is here – very hot from the start. I, of course, recognize that I emphasize the seasonal fluctuations in the Northern hemisphere. I hope you see the spirit of my meaning and mirror it for the rest of the world. IFCC covers so many countries on multiple continents, so that the blue beaches and swimming season in Greece may be the mirror of high mountains covered with snow in the countries of the Southern hemisphere. Celebration of nature and of free time in nature is what we honor while celebrating our valuable work in the labs. We must play our role, our part in the global fight against climate change. This is why we are already discussing green labs and Dr. Bernard Gouget presents this important and crucial effort. Read his article and start thinking about your own lab and every little detail that could be altered in favor of Earth. Our President, Professor Khoshrow, invites all of us to the WorldLab in Seoul, stressing the importance of the IFCC Forum for Young Scientists to be held in Seoul before the WorldLab. Imagine all these young scientists from all over the world gathered with all their enthusiasm and new ideas! Then we are invited to Brussels, the central city of Europe, to “foster collaborations between our regions and divisions” – in his own words. There we will all participate in the celebration of the 70- year anniversary of the IFCC. We will plan even better times ahead for the international lab community. Go through the societies' news and discover their efforts, get inspiration from them, and... celebrate the profession without forgetting your lab “greening"!

Once again we are coming across an increasing number of fake email messages coming from the IFCC, or IFCC President, or IFCC officers. These messages seem trustworthy, but they are not! 2022 03 08 IFCC eNews No 3 March 2022

03/08/2022

Dr. Katherina Psarra, eNews Editor, says: "We are at the beginning of spring, but well, we don’t yet see it, neither in the weather, although trees and wildflowers have already blossomed, nor in spirit (the war has prevented it). But spring is here for the IFCC. The division chairs have met with the Board for the new strategic plan. (Committee and working group chairs have participated too). A formidable, springly plan full of activities, full of energy, has been prepared for IFCC and its members. Our president, Prof Khosrow Adeli, is introducing it to us in his message written for this issue. The IFCC virtual platform, planned to be created, is also introduced in his message. In this issue we learn about new and older IFCC task forces and WG: IFCC Working Group on Flow Cytometry, IFCC Task Force on Outcome Studies in Laboratory Medicine (TF-OSLM), IFCC Working Group on Metabolomics, IFCC’s Task Force on Ethics (IFCC TF-E), introduce themselves and their members, and present their plans or their recent work. It is important to come in touch with them, as new opportunities and ideas and perhaps new collaborations may arise. Compared to the first eNews of 2022, this issue is smaller. But it is full of energy and photos, and easy to peruse. Welcome to the IFCC spring, dear colleagues!".

It will be full of in-person and much-anticipated meetings to which our president Prof K. Adeli welcomes our whole community. Let’s hope and believe that they will be realized. In this issue, we are (as always) celebrating laboratory medicine. You will find many articles about the proof of how important laboratories are in the management of COVID-19 all over the world. The contribution of laboratories in the management of the refugees’ crisis in the countries where a lot of these people looking for a better life arrive, is described by the presenters during Les Journées de l’Innovation en Biologie 2021. Don’t forget to go through Dr. Per Hyltoft Petersen’s life, a life dedicated to analytical quality. Dear colleagues, celebrate Laboratory medicine in your own ways and go through our eNews to honor it even more."
